Anyone got a ballpark on what a Gen 1 Glock 17 is worth? The frame has a stipple job which sucks some value out but I have an opportunity to get one and I have no idea what to offer.
Stippling means it's not a collector anymore so im guessing you are buying it to shoot it. 300? Maybe.... If you really want it. There's a reason they don't make gen 1s anymore....
If mint with original box/docs it would be something to keep as a collector piece/novelty but stippled glocks are near worthless to the buying public. Like a woman that used to be a prostitute for the last 14 years wants to settle down with you.
Bought a Gen 2 G19 last May for 250 OTD 1 mag no box all original.
Parts kits are worth more then that. In other words it was under sold.
But ya messing with it in that kinda permanent way does really mess with the value. Still gotta be worth the price of a parts kit. 350-400? is what I see complete kits going for less frame.
Paranoid people and criminals will pay the extra for a kit to make a not to spec unregistered gun.
If you want it as a whole gun get it as cheap as you can since you can pass a 4473 ( I think)
In my area, Gen 3s are sub-$350; honestly, if it were me, I'd go no more than $200.
It has zero collector value; it's really only worth the price of its (used) parts.
At $200, it's ok as a shooter, or a 1st handgun; that's all.
Just looked up my Gen 2 G17 and it's born on date was 1993 July 1st I bought it NIB in Sept that year.
The Gen 2 19 I bought in may of 2019 was made in 1993 April 1st
When I purchased the G17 I had a 6 week back order wait and at the time Pa also had a 7 day wait once the paperwork was in.
So I got it fresh off the factory line back then.
I don't value either gun more then 400 and only because the slides match the frames and 80% frames have drove parts kits through the roof.
Some people on GB paying more for a parts kit then a whole gun.
To me they are nothing more shooters my G17 is OEM less the threaded barrel & trijicon night sights, it has survived on KB that was major, splitting the barrel in about 1995
Still have the barrel in the original tupperware as a reminder.
