I recently bought a Gemtech GM-9 for my SA full-size and mini uzi. I planned on buying the Uzi Mount that connects the can to where the barrel nut goes, but was wondering if threading the barrels is a better route.

Thoughts?

Mount to the barrel nut (that direct thread). that way the can doesn't come loose. While there are still can-mount threads to worry about, those get enough carbon build-up the first couple of hundred rounds to stay tight.

FYI - while some here use 10" barrels (there is enough length) I was initially told and Pilot176 has also heard from GemTech that you are supposed to use 8.5" barrels with that setup. That's what I use with a multimount can and that same GM9/MultiMount can adaptor:

I had it both ways with a mini Uzi and gemtech trinity suppressor, the precursor to the multimount, I ended up going with the barrel nut because it was much more secure. It took a good while for me to get the Uzi mount because it was out of stock for so long
