Does any one know how many parts need to be swaped to make a galil ace pustol 922r compliant when SBRing?

Please don't let this turn into a 922r debate

Did some digging and hear me out.
According to 922r.com the galil rife has 15 parts. So five parts would need to be swapped. Since I have pistol only 4 parts need to be swapped. So theoretically I only need to use amercian mags, american butt stock, and american handgaurd and I should be fine.

you can also use a CNC warrior gas piston as a 922r part, i personally would do an alg trigger as that is 3 parts. this way you can use whatever magazine from wherever in the world you want.

Galil ACEs use AR Mag so I'd just leave it at ALG trigger kit and call it a day for 922r because your mags will be US mags and your barrel is threaded 1/2x28 so there's no foreign muzzle devices available that I'm aware of that are Galil related.

Do you have a link to any atf information about this?
I had a micro galil built and am waiting on the tax stamp now. The builder (whose done more than a few) said 922r does not apply.

Refer to 922r.com. The "Galil" has 15 made foreign parts. Assuming a magpul mag, american hand guard, and a american muzzle break you are fine. If you are having one built use a tapco trigger.

Yes 922 does apply, the ATF has ruled on this a couple of times.

I dont know much about the 7.62x39 rifles but there is a reason why the rifle ships with a magpul mag.

It's not a matter of how many parts you swap out. It's a matter of how many foreign parts (of those listed) that you end up with when done. An Ace rifle has 15 of the listed parts. You need to make sure that 5 are US made. The magazine takes care of 3. You can use an American buttstock and handguard to take care of the other two. Alternatively, you might use a US flash hider. Actually, the flash hider might already be US made. They are on the factory rifles. Personally, I'd just buy a factory SBR. Their prices are reasonable as they're just a bit more than the regular rifle versions. In fact, I did just that...

I've been told the same thing by manufacturers. You don't have anything to worry about. 922(r) applies to assembly, not possession. There's absolutely no law against possessing a rifle that isn't 922(r) compliant. You just can't make one. So, no worries.

Here's my Micro Galil.
