I just received my Southern Tactical built Galil SAR. Im pretty happy with everything except one issue. It has terrible trigger slap. It is to the point that it is not enjoyable to shoot. Iv seen on YT people grinding down a tab on the disconector i believe. Is there a replacement trigger group available to purchase to solve this issue if i wanted to go that rout? Sorry i couldn't find this issue answered anywhere.

Usually trigger slap in an AK is one of two things. In a stamped gun a bad rivet that is too tall can interfere with the rear tang of the disconnector. Some cut the tang off and others shape the rivet.

Do you have another FCG or disconnector from any ol AK you and swap in and try?

My Galil doesn't have this issue. I'll have to look at my FCG in the AM.

I dont have one yet but would like any recommendation on who sells one that fits the milled receiver of the Tor tort. I heard mentioned online that
Red Star Arms used to sell one but dont see one currently available on their site. Id prefer a FCG that doesnt require modification if possible.

My son recently purchased a southern tactical built galil sar with the same trigger slap issue. We're you able to resolve this trigger slap issue?

Yes, in a way. So not long after posting this question the disconector broke in half. For the life of me i couldn't get another AK FCG to work in the gun. Eventually i had a local gun smith get it working after he modefied another FCG to work. Saddly this was not the first problem i had with the gun. About 200 rounds befor the disconector broke the fireing pin broke. Im guessing the gun wasnt quit set up properly from ST and it was beating itself to death till those parts failed. Keep in mind this all happend during the first 300 rounds or so. On the bright side the gun seems to be funtioning normal now. Iv put maybe another 200 rounds through it. Good luck.

My son and I shot his Southern tactical Galil today. The gunsmith that worked on his rifle to correct the trigger slap installed a ALG defense AK trigger with lightning bow. So much more enjoyable now, well worth it.
