Does anyone make a repro or know of where I can get a Galil rear handguard retainer? Some people call them a ferrule. I want to wrap up another build but am missing this as well as a good shape wood handguard. TIA

You didn't specify, the ARM had the handle, not the SAR. You will have a very difficult time finding an original anywhere, including internationally. Even the airsoft version is nowhere
to be had. There is one on Gunbroker now but it is an airsoft and will likely go north of $200 like the one last week did, which is retarded. You can also post WTB in the classifieds and
hope to get a bite, good luck and God speed.

you might consider ditching the carry handle idea for a SAR build and go with a regular handguard retainer.

Is the Airsoft stuff made of materials strong enough to use on a real firearm? (I.e., will the Galil Retainer w/Carry Handle actually be useable on a real firearm, or will it bend/break if you carry the gun with it?)

They work fine. They are a cast metal piece made in Taiwan. Though I would not go slinging the rifle around all crazy or anything, but they will support carrying the rifle around.

Thanks. I'd love to have 1 on my Golani, as well as a wooden forend and bipod.

They apparently hold up well enough that no one is complaining when they pay $200 on Gunbroker for a $28 airsoft carry handle.

Any legality considerations for importing "airsoft parts" with intent to use them as "firearm parts" on "military-style" firearms (including both for personal use or for intentions of reselling)?

Shouldn't be any issues. The only thing that would affect the firearm legally is if you are shortening the barrel under 16 inches, making it select fire / full auto, or making in some way a suppressor. Past that, should not matter what you do to it.

So no reason to first obtain ATF Approved Form 6 Importation Permit? No risk the ATF may knock on your door, especially if you buy a dozen from a source in Great Britain and start re-selling them on gunbroker to people who plan using them on their Galil builds?

I'm not a lawyer, but... they are Airsoft parts. So what someone does with them is not your business. If it is not a restricted item, then there should be no issue. No different than if you sell me a flash light & I mount it to a firearm without your knowledge, not YOUR problem. If it was illegal to do, then I would be the one risking punishment.

For the record, Taiwan is far from Chicom, in fact the people of Taiwan despise China ;)

But yes for those that desire the look, they work well & if it's the only game in town what is one to do. :bang
