I am getting my first Galil here in a few days, a 397, I am very excited, dont think a weapon system has ever got my attention more than the Galil series of rifles. I have bad eyes though, I would like to mount a red dot optic if possible. Is there a good aftermarket company that makes a top rail cover that can mount an eotech without a problem, something like the Krebs custom rail but cheaper?! Thanks guys, looking forward to hanging out here.

Ultimak is releasing a Galil solution this summer, supposedly. So, best to wait for that. Your reflex sight will be mounted forward with it, but it'll be secure.

We have a replacement gas tube that has a picaitnny rail on it, they were made in the early 2000's for the galils imported for police/military use. This week we will release them to the public, I will get proper pictures taken and have the link posted here by weeks end

I have for ar/arm and I think we have some for the micro galil as well, the micro galil ones dont have a huge amount of rail space though

Those are nice, if they're like the ones I have, they add a bit a bit of weight to the rifle, one fit perfectly, one required a tiny bit of fitting but both are very solid. I still really like the FAB PRG railed foreend.

I think ArmsUnlimited was full of bologna; his statement was unadulterated subterfuge.

I think so too, a week or so they had a bunch of UZI parts they were going to post on their site. The only thing to show up new was a barrel and a bolt.

I have a full length AR/ARM railed gas tube for sale $130 shipped. I'm second owner, was sourced originally through Botach. Might require some fitting to your rifle. Finish isn't great. Can send pics, PM if interested.

Do you still have this for sale?

This may suit your needs without spending $500 on the FAB Galil rail system. If you don't mind dropping $500, the FAB rail system is the way to go.

Ya 5 bills on a rail is hard to justify, Id rather spend it on an optic. The $99 special is to bulky and changes the whole look of the rifle. I had a similar cheapo rail on my saiga 12 back before I knew much about upgrades. Quad rails are nice but how often do you mount enough stuff to cover all that rail space? By the time you add rail covers, it feels like grabbing onto a can of soup! lol This build is for my wife so I'm trying to keep it as light as possible, a hard task with the Galil.

Gotchya. The FAB is expensive, but is the way to go. It weighs the same as the stock fore grip so no increase in weight. I just put rail covers on 2 sides.

I would suggest the Meprolight M5 red dot. Cheaper than most & very nice.

I've often thought about getting a Mepro, I have seen them on Zahal looking at VZ58 parts. I have a couple burris fast fire 3 red dots and like the quality to price point. They are about as light as you can get and there nice and low for co-witnessing. I've had cheaper red dots but they all sucked...(sightmark, aimshot) even the primary arms red dot fell apart when used on a tws dogleg rail (was replaced for free!) I like to get a Nikon or Leopold scope for around $400. Feel like you get your $$ worth out of a scope that increases the range and accuracy of any rifle. If I can't find a railed gas tube, do you recommend any of the mounts that use the dovetail? Already got a blackthorn one and it wouldn't even fit into the receiver, it was too tight and cant be installed without removing the handguard. Funny when I first started my galil project I thought... Great a built in scope mount on an ak platform! Now I find out its a useless little groove...

The thumbs down was for the worthless dovetail. I'm new to this forum stuff... mostly just read them for info. I posted pictures of my ARM I just finished in the two tone galil thread but haven't gotten any love...
