I recently acquired a full auto 45 kit that uses grease gun mags. Works flawlessly so far. Only issue is barrel nut backs off about half a turn after each mag. The bolt is not contacting the barrel during fire. Any thoughts ? It has never done this in 9mm. Thanks Lefty

45 is faster and more violent than 9mm. Could be a weak barrel nut retainer spring or flattened tooth on the catch or nut.

my Semi Vector had this problem - no magic - the barrel nut catch was just worn. New part from BWE and G2G since being replaced. Also make sure your barrel nut notches are all in good shape.

I had this issue at one time. It turned out to be a weak barrel nut retainer spring. Compared to a "new" spring in a SMG parts kit, the one that came with my gun was noticeably shorter. I swapped them out and all was well.

As noted, chipped / worn teeth on the barrel nut or catch could lead to this as well. Again, you should be able to see if this is the case, and swap out inexpensive parts as needed.

My trunnion welds broke a few years ago. It did not stop running until the trunnion had moved forward far enough that the bolt started deforming the receiver. You should see a gap between the trunnion flange and the front of the receiver if this is happening.

Replaced the barrel nut catch and spring with a new one and she runs like a sewing machine. Many thanks to all for your help. Lefty
