Last Form 4 Was about 4 mos. 3 mos for a Form 1. Only about 1 month for a Form 5!

Approved on Monday and it's Friday. Still waiting on snail mail. No papers, no mg.

I picked it up today. So snail mail too 4 days and the mg is in my hands. Not counting the dealer to dealer time, 5 weeks, it was July 25 to January 13. And I just went out back and put a 30 rnd mag through it. Sweeeet!!! Worth the wait because there's nothing you can do about it......

Holy cow that is awesome! What is it? If you can share, how much did that set you back? I can only dream of one day getting a real MG! For now, I'll have to be satisfied with my M/11.

It's an FN FNC. Basically a Belgian made M16. 3 round burst and full auto. Runs great. Cycles about as fast as an AK47. I'll post videos as soon as I can. They are still affordable at $7k or a bit more.

File your paperwork and start the wait. They aren't making anymore of them (since 1986).

I had gotten the impression that the parts availability on the FNC's was minimal at best, though I must admit that I didn't REALLY dig into that to know for sure.

Is that not the case?

Parts are a bit scarce. But not unobtainable. And it is a simple battle rifle fielded by at least three countries.

Just to update, my paperwork, sent Aug 1st 2011, pending Aug 15th, was approved Jan 10 2012 and at my FFL Jan 16 2012. 168 days door-to-door.

My suppressor paperwork, sent Aug 3rd 2011, pending Aug 24th, was ALSO approved Jan 10 2012 and at my FFL Jan 16 2012. 166 days door-to-door.

These were both done by Mr. Lamberger.

Assuming your paperwork contains no errors/issues, I'd guess you're maybe two weeks out from delivery of your stamp (this is based on the data on nfatracker.com, which, if more people used it, it would be great as we'd have much better visibility into the goings-on at the NFA/approvals branch).

The last few weeks are the worst part, but it should be over soon.

I'm with you Phillip any day now, (Sent Aug 5th, pending Aug 22nd), I called today, Mr Lamberger is my examiner and I'm still pending!

And I agree with you Silly, the last few weeks are the worst!

Well, if you keep your eye on NFA tracker you can generally interpolate the data to come up with a reasonable guess. It's tough given the low use-rate of the site, but it's doable. Hell, I was able to figure my approval date to within 1 day (I figured that it would be the 11th of January, and it ended up being the 10th).

My Uzi form 4 went "pending" Aug 6, 2011. I'm dying here. So much that I might buy another title II weapon. 6 mo wait time for a single hop from in state dealer to me is not reasonable. I say this as I currently have a SBS, a suppressor, and a 2cd Uzi pending. But seriously...I may be done with this crap and just enjoy what I currently own which is a small but very entertaining NFA collection. These stinking longarse wait times is what makes things like RDIAS and HK reg sears so valuable. The clone world is easy to play in with no wait. Just get your stuff built as a pistol format. Throw on the stock, etc only when sear in it. And if you desire...register your hosts as SBRs or whatnot...but at least you own them and can shoot them while waiting for form 1 to clear, etc.

+1.

I have 2 SMG's I bought recently. One Form 3 is at 3 months wait, the other was approved in 15 days and is now on the way to my local dealer. After these Form 4's I think I will be done for a long time. I hate dealing with the all the dealers, ATF, and the wait.

I will just invest all my money in ammo so I can go out and enjoy what I have.

I've heard it takes longer if its your first transfer, is it true? My examiner is Ann Feltner pending since October 20th. Hopefully I'll get it by the end of March.

No, that's an urban myth. They cash your check, send your paperwork to WV, prints get sent to the FBI, come back clean after god knows how long, you get approved. It's the same process everytime. You could get approved for an item today, and your paperwork for a different item arrives tomorrow to the same examiners, and the process will just repeat itself even though you were approved 24 hours ago. There's no frequent flyer pass with NFA.

The first Wait is the worst. The next one will seem shorter even though it won't be.
