The number stamped on the top of an approved form 4, does that number mean when a form entered the ATF's system or when it leaves approved?

My dealer told me that another person's from that he submitted 48 hours after mine came back in the exact same time frame, 9 weeks to the day, but the number on the top of the form was exactly 300 higher than mine.

Anyone know what that number means?

The first character is the first letter of the transferor or makers name, the next three letters are the day of the year it was received, the next two numbers are the order it was received that day for the first letter.

Well, after starting this thread with my first FA Uzi transfer back in 2009 I'm back in the waiting game again. My Form 4 check cleared for a Mini-Uzi on Nov 9, and my check for 3 cans (now that Michigan is finally suppressor friendly) cleared a week later. How long have Form 4's been taking to go through these days?

I enjoyed the thread about Form 4's clearing faster if you forget to enclose your check, but I did send in everything correctly.

I'm at roughly 4 months. There is a newer thread on the subject but I'm on my phone and can't find it.

I just picked up a two stamp gun. Mailbox to mailbox first stamp was a few days short of three months, second stamp was three months and two weeks.

In Ohio I'm hearing 4-5 months. Mine went PENDING on July 26th (the check cleared a week before). So my four month anniversary is next week during Thanksgiving. I am sure the holiday will screw it up a bit. I'll let you know as soon as I clear.

Mine is an INDIVIDUAL FORM 4 for a RLL (transfers as an MG).

Well today is day 106 for my FA Uzi & and Gemtech. Forms and checks went in the mail Friday, August 5th and the checks cleared on Tuesday, August 9th.

I visited my dealer last Saturday and he told me that it is taking right at 5 months!! Ugh!!!

If this holds true, New Years Day will really be my day to celebrate!!!

Well Dave I was doing good for a while, as I had all the "support equipment" to search for and have ready once delivery was finally made. I even made the ammo can Uzi Mag holder which nicely holds 28 /32 rounders, (glad I have a son who can carry this for me when fully loaded)!

Heck, Larry is my NFA as well as a good freind and he lets me visit on the weekends if I choose to, and have been over there two or three times already!

The other day I was just replacing my 2011 calendar with the 2012 version and thought I'd see where I was and figure worse case senario, and that drops me dead on 1 January 2012!

And so the wait continues, but you guys will know the minute my Vector is on my hot little hands!

Waiting on my first transfer, Form 3, on my STEn MkII.

Bought last year around this time on my M11/9 and the Holidays really screwed me. 3 months on the last F3 and 4 months on F4. I am just resigned to a longer wait this time. At least I have one MG to shoot in the mean time.

Already stocked up on mags and a parts kit, so now I can forget I bought it for a while. Already saving for my MP 40.

Just went through 2 Form 4's, Ruger AC556 and Steyr AUG, and both took about 4 months. Put in paperwork on a YHM silencer for both of those a couple of weeks ago so looking at early March on that one. Paperwork on the Uzi will go in around January when I finish paying that off.

Is is true that you can speed this up by including a copy of a recently completed transfer? Would hate to send in any extra paperwork and screw up the system. But if a copy of a very recent stamp would speed things up, all the better.

That's the first I've heard of that. But this is only my fourth transfer (3 MGs and 1 SBR). So I would not consider myself an expert.

Having said that, I can't believe that in today’s day and age (i.e. computers) that they can't just type in your name and see everything registered to you within seconds.

I know that in the past the registry was actually that, a physical registry in a log book. But my bet would be that for the past 10 or 20 years as stuff is transferred that it gets logged in to an electronic data base.

Someone else more familiar with the whole procedure may be able to shed more light on it.

Agreed. Way too logical considering that this is probably a governmental agency, and specific area within that agency, that gets the dregs and crumbs that are cast off by even more obscure agencies. That hardcopy logbook is probably on the edge of someones desk and gets thumbed through on a daily basis. I know, I'm way too cynical.

I forgot where I heard about inserting additional paperwork to "remind" them of previous approvals (especially recent ones), and that it could speed up the process. Hey if anything makes it easier on the actual person doing the work, I'm all for that especially since it could help me. Hopefully someone with more F4 experience that you and I put together can chime in with the bottom line on if this would help, or hurt, the process. Thanks for your input though.

I"m 5+ months pending on a Form 1. Have several new pendings for the first week in January. I called ATF in WV and was advised 6 months TAT. She told me that they currently have 25,000 applications.

I appreciate Stout's update, my Uzi and Suppressor paperwork was sent off 5 Aug 11 and went pending 22 Aug 11.

I called two weeks ago and the examiner said they are at five months from the date the items went pending, so I'm hoping I get to send some rounds down range by the end of January.

Will post the receipt of my stamps as soon as it happens.
