I have read on several posts that you can legally have a folding stock on a post ban as long as it has enough USA parts and no bayonet lug. Can someone explain this to me? I'm interested in doing this but have always heard that it was not possible. Is it because the detachable magazine and pistol grip are the same?
Thanks in advance for the help. I just want to make sure it's legal before I start buying the parts.

a 'quick detatchable stock' is ok ... a 'folding or collapsable stock' is a NO NO ... quick detatchable meaning ... the wooden stocks for the uzi with the button for quick release .. or the detatchable stocks for the post ban tommy guns ... the easily come off .. but the dont fold ....

sorry .. forget your whole idea ..

sjeccles, welcome to uzitalk. We're glad you joined us.

You cannot put a folding/collapsible stock on a post ban Uzi. Period. What you can do is replace the standard thumbhole stock that came on the Norinco's with a standard stock if the gun is not considered an import. You do that by making sure there are'm more than 10 imported parts in the gun. Note that the number of US parts is not the count, it's the number of imported parts. By reducing the number of imported parts, you could put on an Uzi style wood stock or you could put on one of the metal Uzi stocks if it was welded open so it could not fold.

Check out these threads for further diuscussion and photos of what some people have done to their Norinco's:

The Norinco is a pre-ban in the sense that it was imported prior to the '94 ban. It is not an assault weapon as defined by that ban in its original configuation. If the US made parts were available prior to the ’94 ban it could have been made into the configuration you described. However, it would have to have been done prior to the ban. You have not done so, so the answer to your question is no. You cannot do it. If the ban sunsets you can do it, but you still must install 6 US made parts to be compliant with the law. Good luck.

:welcome sjeccles. I think your wording may be confusing things a little. You can have the "folding stock", it just can't actually fold. As stated earlier, if it were welded solid, and you had the 6 US made parts and no bayo lug, you can do it. Karl.
