Finding value of RR Transferable for insurance

I been having a year to year argument with USSA insurance about the value of my RR transferable value. I cannot seem to get them to understand that the "value" of these firearms due increase and due not decrease typically like run of the mill firearms. They only want to insure the value of the purchase price of the firearm in 2015 which was $14,000 and its been a pain to increase the coverage. I was wondering if there was a insurance recognized assessor that would be sufficient for insurance purposes or dose anyone have experience with more understanding company?

Look at collectible insurance through someone else. I don't experience with them personally but they will be setup to handle items going up in value.

Call Jack Richardson at Eastern Insurance and get a quote. 800 545-9326. Very easy to deal with. Unscheduled coverage for anything under 10K, scheduled for anything over 10K, but no appraisals needed.

I have had Collectobles Insurance Service for years for both firearms and military collectibles. I have USAA for everything else. CIS is the best that I have found. All the militaria dealers and collectors that I know have it. Just google it and read the reviews and talk with them. I doubt that you will find anyone better for what you want to insure. They were great to work with when I sent a gun to Richard for work, I followed their guidance and did not pay for extra insurance. As a collector, it can pay for itself in mailing or shipping items.

This is the guy I use and I'm glad I found him. it's something like $35 for each $10,000 insured per year.

It's WAY cheaper than my NRA policy was

We also use him for my wife's ring (which has premiums 3x those for guns)

I found him after posting something like this on ARFCOM because another policy wanted an "appraisal" and my SOT wanted $100 to do an appraisal. That was going to have to be a yearly thing.

Give Jack a call.

Another vote for Jack Richardson from me. I've been a USAA member for over 25 years, but have not been impressed with their level of service recently. Jack is very easy to work with, and understands the value of transferrable machineguns can vary widely from year to year.

Has anyone ever had a claim with any of these companies? If so how did it go?

Interested in that question as well - long line of insurance companies who are happy you take your money with a smile. Line gets thinner when you have a claim. I know this because I also collect classic Porsche's and it is a major discussion and point of conflict in that circle. Matt

I think the reason why the rates are so cheap is because loss is so rare.

Rates for my wife's ring are 3-4x those for my guns.

I suspect that's because most guys who have these guns and are prudent enough to insure them, also have safes, alarms, cameras, and a loaded SBR at the bedside and are unlikely to suffer a loss.

Could always get a lawyer to look at the declarations page.

A ring is probably easier to dump for cash verse a firearms in some regards. The penalties for a illegal NFA item are pretty darn huge not that someone stealing it is worried about it though.

Yea- They can take them to one of those "Police turn ins" and get $50-- no questions asked. I wonder if the authorities try to run the serial numbers and see if they were stolen- and if so- return them to their owners? I bet not :O(

I think normally its no questions asked, I recalled a few years ago a woman tried to turn in her fathers STG 44 and the cops refused to take it in realizing how much it was worth
