Finaly found an original Dutch Trial FN FNC. Try to find the differences ; )

Hi all,



I have been out for a long period. Some guy named Poutin has a lot to do with it. Buzy days in defence.



Anyway, i got a call from Yves, he runs a specialised gun collectors shop in Belgium. www icfs-delta.com.

Since he is also a board member of the Belgian Gun Collectors Association, we are close.



So, turns out he received a batch of ultra rare Dutch FN FNC rifles. I got a first choise so i quickly got my hands on this one.

I contact some Dutch military friends who have acces to serial data and it confirms that this FNC is in that Trial range.

Back in the days, Holland tested STEYR AUG, severa M16's, FAMAS, GALIL, SA80 and the FNC. This one is the latest version FN made for the export.

Try to spot the differences, there are a lot! Its in the details... The Dutch FNC is the one without the aimpoint. The other one is a real Belgian Army M3 with the ABL serial.



















Something i spotted imediatly was the hinge and locking mechanism. With this version you can open the stock without manipulating the locking system. It is springloaded and it takes some force to close or open it.













also, the position of the slinghole is different, higher up. And on one side only.





The artic triggerguard is a nice item ; )

Inside, the new firecontroler is installed. It has the latest selector and cam inside. On the outside you can not see the position on the right side.











The lower one is the Dutch FNC







Very odd is the position of the cocking handle. I have 14 different FNC's, this is the only version, aside a prototype that has this feature.





The recoilspring has allready the better plasitc buffer installed.



You save that different plastic dustcover. At the end of the ABL M3 service life, we received this type as a replacement part for the iron dustcover. it uses a different spring also.







The Barrel is 1/7 twist. it has specific codes on it. The first picture is the Dutch FNC

The gassystem uses an unique gasblock. Small ears and no grenade cut off option.









The handguards have the reïnforced lips welded in. The Belgian Army received these too at the end...





The Dutch FNC has no 3 position tritium sights as the Belgian Army version has.





Several of these recently recovered FNC have extra serials on the lowers. That is done to get them imported in Belgium and to pass the new rules of the Liege Proofhouse.

Mine escaped that extra serial ; )

Also, no serials on the barrel, carrier and bolt. The ABL M3 has several serials.

Paco, I also noticed the Dutch FNC in the photo does not have the rings on the barrel just forward of the gas block for the bipod to mount on. My US imported “preban” has a selector lever more like the FAL and a magazine release button that is oval not round. Was always curious why those were different?
