It was the right deal at the right time. :devil

It is a BGM bolt, serial number 8xx - Frank's guy didn't say which caliber but 70% of the BGM bolts are 9mm, so I assume that is what it will be.

So, what kind of host gun should I get to mate with this bad boy?

Damn, machine guns are addictive...

Must be a pretty good deal to buy and not even know the caliber lol. Doesnt sound like biting the bullet, more like a steal lol

To be honest, I had "forgotten" that B&G made and registered a few .45 bolts. The thought didn't even cross my mind until earlier today when I was reading up on registered bolts. The check was in the mail by that point, though I would have made this deal regardless.

Can you say price? To make us all jealous? Or is it a secret

$8k.

I doubt it was the deal of the century but it was good enough for me. It had been a while since I had seen one at that price, probably close to two years.

If nothing else, I can use it for trading fodder at some point in the future.

Thanks, guy. I literally made the decision in about 20 seconds, as a bunch of people were already interested and the seller asked for a quick response.

I found out today that the bolt is in .45 caliber. I was kinda hoping for a 9mm so I will probably build it up and try to trade it for a 9mm bolt setup or better yet toward a SMG spec. Registered Receiver. I love .45 but I think I like the classic 9mm Uzi the best.

Congrats on the registered bolt. I'm not a fan of the Uzi in 45, but that is just me. I have a conversion kit, but it does not feel right, it is just too choppy. I prefer the 9m in the Uzi platform. Of course I have not yet tried the 45 suppressed. That may change my opinion. I now have adapters to run two different cans on the Uzi 45, but have not had time to try them out.

When I bought my bolt, it was originally a .45 bolt that got rewelded to 9mm while I was waiting for it. I don’t remember who did the work but I think it was Vector. I would guess the M60Joe or Mike Klos could do it. They have both done some tricky work for me in the past.
Mine came in an IMI receiver marked .45 but with the barrel and anything else changed over to 9mm. Shortly after I got it, I sent the host gun to vector for a refinish and to weld and cover over the .45 marking. They did a great job. On one side only. It still says .45 on the other side. They said send it back in but I never got around to it. It has ran like a top since day one.

Gentlemen, thanks for all the well wishes and comments.

I don't feel so out of place hanging out on a forum dedicated to the Uzi platform now. The Uzi is what started my NFA addiction about half a dozen years ago, it was about time I joined the club officially. :devil

Be careful - on the right side of the receiver, the 45-SA is part of the serial number and you don't want to alter that.

If you weld up the bolt face of a registered bolt... It's not a temporary modification like a barrel swap on an RR.... So, wouldn't you technically need to correct it in the registry and modify it to a different caliber? Can this be done? Is it worth correcting? Or Merica. Just do it. I only ask because I wouldn't want bubba making my exit only hole into an entry over something like this.

My form 4 says 9mm. The dealer just changed it to 9mm when he transferred it. Oddly, I had a bunch of my paperwork scrutinized about 4 years when I did a 5320. They even asked for pictures of a couple of model numbers and a barrel length but the UZi wasn’t questioned.
You could also just send them a letter of the caliber change if you wanted.

John, has the new weld on the bolt face held up pretty good? Have you seen any flexing or chipping on the bolt face or anything else like that?

Just curious, because if I cannot find a 9mm bolt in trade, I am most likely going to go this route.

I have not noticed any chipping or deformities. I will take a closer look when I get home.

Just an update...

I have a Vector Arms Uzi carbine on the way. It will be the host for the registered bolt. I thought about getting an IMI .45 Uzi but decided I'd rather spend that extra money on ammo.

No word on the actual bolt yet, it is apparently still in transfer to Frank @ MWT. I reached out to some people in regards to having the bolt face rewelded to 9mm spec. It appears nobody is interested in doing it. I can't blame them, as it's kind of an expensive screw up if something goes wrong. Still, if anybody knows of somebody who has handled such work in the past, I'd appreciate the head's up.
