Isn't M193 5.56 ammo and not .223 per se? I thought we shouldn't use 5.56 in a .223 rifle, but .223 will be fine in a 5.56 one.

My rifle is as it was issued in the Swedish AK5 trials in the 80's. It's a 5.56mm NATO and with a 1-12" barrel. Barrel is 13" long.

Very few FFV890C rifles trickled out on the civilian market.

The fnc is a fine rifle. The AK-5 refines it and raised the standard a little. But, this is an example of an even better weapon. If only it had entered and remained in production.

I would love to compare it to a Valmet or a Sako.

Used to have an AK5 but I much prefer the FFV890C.....much more sturdy. The AK5 is however more accurate.

Also have M16/AR15 rifles they are nice lightway accurate rifles but my favourite is definately the FFV890C.

I thought that was some strange furniture on that rifle. It's great when a rare example gets into private hands.

If your barrel is 1-12", then try out a handload with a 52gr. bullet. I don't know how it would work in a 13" barrel but I've had outstanding results in the longer barrels on the American imports.

You'll be surprised what the 5.56 Galil can do with the right ammo.

About 1000 rifles were made for the trials. Some were destroyed and the remaining rifles are still in defence inventories.

Maybe 15-20 guns trickled out on the civilian market.

Value on my gun today........A LOT.

Spare parts....most parts (bolt, trigger group, mags etc etc) are regular Galil parts....the FFV specific parts are HARD to find.

Different parts are:

Handguards + handguard "ring".
Top cover (has case buffer).
Rear of recoil spring guide (has rubber "gasket" to prevet oil to blow back in shooters face).
Safety/selector (larger thumb piece).
Trigger/ trigger guard
Receiver markings

That's all the differences I think.

I have an extra set of FFV890C hand guards and some other unique FFV parts for sale.....if the price is right. Parts are new old stock.

Those interested can send me an e-mail: enfieldcollector (at) telia.com
