I"m SBRing a mini Uzi but I don't see a spot on the upper to it. On my full size I did it under the stock but on the mini it's stamped Action Arms there. Any of you guys done this?
Thanks Mike

Don't you just put down on the form 1 the information that is presently on the gun? Or do you need to add more information?

You should be able to fit in next to the Action Arms markings somewhere. The required markings are pretty small.

As Dave said there should be plenty of room to mark it on the underside but you can also put your markings on the barrel. I have done this for a number of customers and it looks fine.

My only question would be if I decide to drop in another bbl., like a threaded one or 3 lug to shoot suppressed...would each bbl. need to be marked?
I would think marking the receiver would give you more freedom?
As the above posters have stated, there's plenty of room on the underside, and its relatively hidden.

I think switching barrels would be o.k. as long you keep the engraved one with you at all times. Nobody really looks for this stuff at the range, they just want to shoot it.

The only way I engrave my title 2s is on the serialized part in a readily visible location. No questions or worries that way.

I asked a couple of the guys at tech branch that I know about engraving the barrel of Uzi's since they are so easy to change and they said engrave the barrel that is in the gun the most and that is fine. They said the same goes for AR's and not to worry about it. The form 1 or 4 is the most important thing.

Uh, well, I think I'd want that in WRITING before I risked going to jail.
But maybe I'm just overly paranoid when I don't believe that ATF is my best friend and is "just there to help me."

Yea, that's it.

This is from the NFA Handbook on ATF's website. It is in writing
http://www.atf.gov/publications/firearms/nfa-handbook/

7.4.2 Additional information. Certain additional information must also be conspicuously placed on
the frame, receiver, or barrel of the firearm by engraving, casting, stamping (impressing), that is, they
must be placed in such a manner that they are wholly unobstructed from plain view. For firearms
manufactured on or after January 30, 2002, this information must be to a minimum depth of .003 inch.
The additional information includes:
(1) The model, if such designation has been made;
(2) The caliber or gauge;
(3) The manufacturer’s name (or recognized abbreviation); and
(4) The city and State (or recognized abbreviation) where the manufacturer maintains its place
of business.122

I do not believe that the friends I have at ATF are my best friends but there are some good people at ATF. I help them out when I can and they do the same for me. They are there to do their job and if you know who to talk to they do it very well.

Sorry. I misunderstood.
I thought you had just called and asked ATF on the phone. I didn't see that you had properly researched it and had official documentation.
Again, my mistake.

No problem. I should have been more clear. I had called them because I new what the law said but I was just making sure it was OK on an Uzi because the barrels come off so easy.

I would do the barrel, or barrels. What if you want, or need to, switch the gun back to title 1 status later on. I would keep the original 19" barrel as well. It's not that expensive to just mark all your barrels. You're probably not going to have more than 3 barrels- 2 more likely, not including the original 19 incher.
I would get one of amphibians polygonal rifled 3 lug barrels. Mine shoots really tight groups and is a joke to clean. A Mk9k to stick on sure is nice to have as well.
