Uzi ran 100% for me today, but my wife and son---no different than usual....so i decided to remove the pencil eraser from inside my grip...i tested my grip safety...even though it stands out much more than a IMI or vector it actually kicks in with barely touching it...its very sensitive...so any sort of grip at all and it would function.....my wife and son had the same jams as always..often in the first/ 2nd round....after clearing the jams they would pick the gun up and it would instantly jam again......in every circumstance i took over after 2-3 jams...and it would fire 100% for me....there is just a subtle way you pull the trigger that makes the uzi jam or run....ive figured it out....

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=rOA4H06J9vg

it was EXACTLT like this video....the guy cant get it to run, the girl does it easily...

i was able to shoot singles even with a 1" buffer in it.....i was on/off the trigger knocking at 10 different targets....while my wife/son struggled to do anything...

im going to take a break from this gun for a while...too many other gun toys to shoot....

My S/A Uzi carbine is used as a home defense weapon and I think if I had to use it to stop a crime and I had made the safety inoperative my azz would be grass and the perps lawyer
would be the lawn mower!
I have large hands and the safety works great for me.:nutkick

For those of you who remember the movie "Falling Down", a closeup of the UZI shows the use of a rubber band. Apparently someone thought Michael Douglas might struggle with the grip safety. Not that movie tricks mean much, but just kind of interesting.

cool movie, would have been cooler if he smoked that weirdo cop and his creepy wife and rode off into the sunset.

Mine was very stiff, took the spring out and stretched it out using just my hands. It was just short enough to fit back in and reduced the weight of push needed.
Before that you had to grip it so hard that it was tuff to pull the trigger. Talk about going off target do to too much grip.

Tape - hell no.
I almost shot my knee cap off climbing over a barbed wire fence once.
Never nullify a safety - it's there for a reason.

C’mon, “Never” is silly. First example that springs to mind is the magazine safety on the Browning HiPower.

Ha Ha ...you better be kidding :stick

Like I said - they are an absolute BITCH to get that sucker on there. I had to buy a couple of them, because I tore the first one trying to get it on, and my hands were sore for three days from stretching that sucker!

Love the way it feels though, and I learned a trick or two in the process - take your time & work from the front of the grip, and stop once in a while to let the rubber stretch a bit before starting again.... still a major pain getting it on there. I use Pachmeyers or Handalls on most of my handguns, but this one made getting a Handall on a double-stack Glock seem like a piece of cake in comparison.....

I have a Photobucket site with lots of pics of it in various configurations if you are interested however:

Pssst…. Try putting it in the microwave first. 🤫

Not Uzi relevant, safety relevant… in the 1920s, a Texas Ranger carried a 1911 with the grip safety taped down. Someone once asked the Ranger “isn’t that dangerous?”

The Texas Ranger responded “You’re damn right it’s dangerous. I wouldn’t carry it if it wasn’t dangerous.”

Love Texans…

That was Manuel Trazazas "Lone Wolf" Gonzaullas.

If you ever visit the Texas Ranger Museum in Waco, most of the 1911’s have the trigger guards ground away as well. And a lot of them are very fancy.

Here’s a link to some of the 1911’s.

So-called "Barbeque Guns". And in keeping with the theme of the thread: here's a 1911 with the safety disabled via a (commonly done on 1911s) rawhide tie down:
