I do not "Tape" the Grip Safety for my FA GI/Vector Mini-Uzi. However, I do put a Hogue Handall / GLOCK slip on grip and it works great. The safety still works, and is a little easier to press while shooting. And the HOGUE feels better around the UZI grip.

Sure wish HOGUE made the complete replacement grip for UZI. That I would purchase. For my "shooter" and my back-up grip frame/trigger group.

Back in the 70s&early 80s, some "gun gurus" advocated pinning the grip safety on 1911s.

Anyway; on a "Range Toy" or a Competition Only" gun? If it helps you, go for it.
I'd never modify or disable any safety on a "Home Defense" or "Carry" gun. That's a prosecutor's wet dream, especially if you also use Handloaded ammo!

Larry Vickers has a FA Uzi on one of his shows that I saw and he advocates taping the Grip Safety. I have never had a problem with mine on various Uzis both SA and FA.

I flattened out a .38Spl casing and used it as a block to keep the grip safety depressed. Works perfectly and can be removed quickly if needed.

Which is why Ed Brown invented the "memory groove" bump on the grip safety. Easy to release even if your grip isn't perfect, but still functions as a drop safety. I can't recall anybody pinning their grip safeties for competition since these types became available.

Most ranges around here require all safeties to be functional, but they never check except for matches that require it, or there's s malfunction, or a "virgin" comes without a regular member; in which they get a safety briefing that includes info on the specific gun.

I misspoke above re: Safety Brief for Specific Gun.
I should have written: Specific Type of Gun. (ie, Single Action Revolver, Double Action Revolver, 1911,Sig, "standard" DA/SA Pistol(S&W,Beretta, etc), Glock, AR,AK, and so on.

No. It's there for a reason.

I guess if you had small soft little girly hands that lacked any grip strength you might find it nesessary to tape it.

I've had hit and miss issues with jamming and I will test this out this week at the range. I've had shooting sessions wo a jam and other times constant jams. Same ammo. Same mags. When kids shoot is when it jams more. So I think this could be the issue. I'll be taping it down and see if it jams

Can you cut down a spring to make easier to depress??

Test only. Don't plan to keep it that way. Need to figure out the problem so why not try. If jams go away then I know. I have a imi trigger assembly to test out also

My guess would be not enough constant pressure on the grip safety when pulling the trigger as the bolt recoils the shooters grip gets loose causing jambs

I agree

My grips are green and smaller than the black ones. The grip safety sticks out farther. I'll post a pic later

Bullet goes into barrel 3/4 of the way and stops when it jams. You have to pick it out

Could also be a sear issue. Not stabbing the trigger. Doesn't jam with a mag dump. Only bursts

here's that pic...ive been told multiple times its normal because the green grips are smaller than black and make the safety appear to stick out farther....ill be testing with the tape the next few times i shoot it...if i get no jams i may swap lowers with a IMI i have...

Sorry ...... You should use a large rubber band instead of tape. when you Finnish with your tennis/Uzi elbow, you can take it off.
don't forget heat or cold on Humorous .(Elbow) .
the microwave heat bag work well from wall green store.
