As an owner of the M-11/9mm, you kinda need to be a tinkerer. I've enjoyed my SK upper, but now it's time to open it up and mod the shit out of it. Not really, but I want to do something different with the front rail and the hand blocker piece.

How does this thing come apart? All of the screws are out, but it's not coming apart. I wanted to make sure there's not an easy, magical way to break it loose before I go gorilla on it. Thanks!

One thing I did with my sk upper was getting a mk2 barrel from lage and having it cut down and a 3 lug installed over it by tsc machine(same way they do hk94 cut downs). Stock barrel wasn't long enough. This way I could run my existing 3lug cans like the gsl phoenix.

Something to consider if you are tricking out an upper. Mine got an interesting paint job as well using gun candy.

Be very careful with the hex screws. They are easy to bugger up. Be sure to get replacements and not re-install any that you do mess up.

Yeah, that happened. Super soft. Will definitely be replacing them with something that's a bit harder.

IIRC they are loc-tited too. My machinist friend that altered my SK even stripped them so don't feel bad.

Went with the path of least resistance. I'm sure there's an engineering reason why Lage included a rail that long, but when the trigger spring failed, I couldn't take the upper off to analyze the issue without removing the rail, which, while at the range, was a complete pain in the ass. I just need one notch to hold the vfg, so I'll call it good.

You'll miss that slot if you ever start to fear for your fingers, but you can buy the replacement part from Lage anyway

Did lage change anything between max11k and sk. I use a gemtech mk9k three lug on my 11k with no mods to the upper, installed the 3lug adapter and everything worked with no problems
