Dear Uzi:

I don't know what came over me. I feel possessed. I got this crazy notion that I NEEDED a fully automatic submachine gun. I don't know if it was the terrorist threats, gun bans, or threats of cancelled gun show... anyway, I went and bought this Uzi made by Vector Arms.

As if this wasn't bad enough... I feel so ashamed of myself... I went and bought a .22 caliber conversion kit from Vector and a whole bunch of mags for it. Not content with that, I then went and bought a .45 caliber conversion kit and a whole bunch of mags.

I know it sounds like I'm out of control at this point... maybe so... but, OHHHHH the agony..... I went and bought a Chris Humphrey's Grease gun conversion lower and a whole bunch of mags for it.

So, Dear Uzi, my question is this: Am I a gun nut? Can this addiction be stopped or am I destined to financial ruination buying all this gun stuff?? I know I have a problem, I just don't know what to do. Please give me some of your sage advice.

Signed, Lawcat [not my real name... just an alias so no one can trace this back to me]

I have a cure for you! You have to quit cold turkey. Send it all to me and I will help you go through detox. Send me your address so my dealer can send you his information to start the transfer. :D

Lawdog, it's no use: You're hooked forever. Financial ruin is right around the corner for you.

I have tried my best to keep my urges under control, but the NFA magnet is relentless. Eight stamps later.....

It started out so innocently. A coupla extra mags here, a case of ammo there. Yet my needs kept growing and growing.

How bad can it get? Well, so far this month I've had FOUR -- count 'em, FOUR -- Form 4s approved.

Three of 'em are still in the mail to my dealer, yet at this moment I'm scouring ads and warming up my checkbook and credit cards. Because I don't have ANYTHING pending at BATF(E) right now, and that fact is giving me the shakes! Help!

Dear lawcat,

You may be a gun nut. Or you may just be a sensible individual looking for a good investment that brings lots of fun along the way. It's hard to separate these days. Oh who are we kidding - you're a gun nut. You are destined to spend large amounts of money on this habit. You'll be ridiculed by your wife. You'll come searching for help, only to find people pushing you further into your adiction. Your time will be consumed at the range or at the computer.

And the whole time you'll have the biggest damn grin on your face.

Hey Tony K

Got you beat for the moment. 10 stamps and 3 on the way.

It did start out really innocently. I found an ad for a m11. Then I found a dealer. He showed me a Swedish k. He said the macs are a fast gun, but he said the K's win the shoots.

Then the dealer became the pusher. He went out of business and I found another. Late night runs to the dealers house, when the wife thinks I am going to the store. Sneaking out early Saturday mornings to pick up something else from the dealer.

You know when your in deep when you get a loan for C3 stuff. At least this time I borrowed 3500 from a buddy.

You don't know how bad you are addicted until the friend that you used to shoot with (the one with no stamps)is showing interest in a suppressor and you realize you have at least 6. Your thinking whats the big deal. Realizing you were in his shoes some years ago, and it gets spooky!!

RUN FAST AND LONG WHILE YOU STILL CAN!!!!!!!

You don't realize how far you have gone when you call up the local gun shop and ask for 1000 rounds of subsonic 9's and the phone goes quiet.............

My only concern at the moment is that you say you feel ashamed for doing it. You may need a little counceling to get rid of that feeling, otherwise you describe yourself as a totally healthy American man. I say go for what makes you happy within the confines of the law...life is too short...to not do it and wish you had !!!!! YEE HAW !!!!

What a wonderful addiction!! And, let's not forget, we can end up spending even more money on accessories than we did on the gun itself.

Hey this is not a support group! We are a bunch of co-dependent, aggressive addicts, who are in denial that we have a problem. Proud of ya boys!!!! Glad to be on the team!

Oh dear Jesus...Just send around the collection plate. We have another poor addicted soul. The disease has just began. It will get worse; before you know it, you'll be looking at Thompsons, MP5's, and BAR's. Gods Speed my Son. Good to have you aboard!
