let’s play a game… point out all the features that stand out as incorrect/counterfeit on this “open bolt RPB” that’s listed on GB.
I’ll start..
The most obvious, the wonky RPB rollmark, “fire” and “safe” markings and lack of lines underneath them.
The welds at the top of the magwell, granted this could be done on a factory original RPB gun by the end user, but that’s not the case here and the trigger guard to magwell welds don’t appear to be proper TIG like the originals either… the sear stud weld on the bottom front end of the frame is slightly visible in a couple of the photos as well.
The backplate is totally incorrect, appears to be a knock off of the Texas MAC style plate but with poorly executed asymmetrical holes, the porous MIG welds are obviously not factory either.
The SWD mfg bolt, SWD mfg takedown pin, SWD plastic grip that is Cobray marked and relief cut for the “large grip” .380 stock release button, as well as the SWD plastic safety button (also items that could have been added to an original RPB, but again, not the case here)
Stock hardware added, doesn’t mean it’s fake, but it certainly didnt come from the factory with that hardware installed the way it is, just dropped into the frame.
I think the Cobray logo can be faintly seen in pic #5 but not 100% positive. That said, RPB Cobray logo marked flats were a dime a dozen for many years and still aren’t hard to come by.. chances are that they were the only flats available on the market at the time this forgery was completed.
again, some of these parts could have been replaced on an original RPB gun, but anyone who knows these guns well will know this is not an original RPB firearm with just a quick glance… the markings, welding, and the rear plate being the most damning evidence, the frame itself also looks to be bent quite a bit in pic #4
The barrel cannot be clearly seen as to positively identify which type it is, but it does look to be the SWD variety with the 1” lug and snap ring retainer for the strap hanger.
the top of the upper is not clearly visible but I have a strange feeling it’s probably an SWD “Cobray” M10A1 type upper with the logo marking on the top of it… the charging handle slot seems consistent with this in pic #6 where the widened channel to rotate the bolt handle and lock it open at the rear end of the slot is slightly visible.
Am I missing anything?
Given the sellers other listing of a bushmaster M17 bullpup, in which the listing is simply titled “semi automatic”, and nothing else, no model name, no manufacturer… I’m gonna give the seller the benefit of the doubt that they are simply unaware that this gun is a forgery and clueless about guns in general.
Just wanted to throw this out there for any prospective buyers on the board, steer clear of this one!
