Gents,
Recently was given a Colt style 9mm carbine (built on a Spikes dedicated 9mm lower) and two metal form mags. Very accurate with 147gr. ammo. I already have a semi auto Uzi carbine and a load of various mags for it (both welded spine and no spine styles). I know the Uzi mags can be converted to use in the Colt (and won’t hold the bolt back when empty) but once converted can they still be used in the Uzi? Thought I’d ask before experimenting with one. Inquiring minds want to know!

You need to contact M60 Joe as he can add the bolt hold open function to converted Uzi mags. http://www.m60joe.com/

Maybe I need to make a new thread but just to let you know that M60joe has sold his business and the new owner is not doing gun work.

That's too bad. I have one of his AM180 selector switch which is much beefier than the original. I also have some of his reworked .22lr magazine loaders. I have one for an AC556/Mini-14 conversion, an Uzi conversion, and one for an M16/AR15 conversion. All work perfectly. I guess they are now collectors' items.

Hi Mr. S. Green,

When you cut the Uzi mags for the Colt 9mm, it is wise to notch them just enough to have them lock into the Colt. If you run the notch too far toward the front of the Uzi magazine, you will have to push your mag release 2 times to get them out of the Uzi.

Just sayin,

Is it still a considerable savings to convert Uzi mags?
I haven’t bought Uzi mags in 6-7 years and paid $8 ea for them.

I will echo others ..Non colt 9mm ar mags ie metlform or C prod are under 20 bucks in some case now ...Even factory marked mags have come down

Unless you are in the last state MA that makes you use Pre ban mags ..I would just buy new mags ..I mean heck PSA was selling very nice AR 9mm mags for like 10ish buck a while back
