correction

sorry, my mini uzi is open bolt f/auto. in semi mode i feel like there's too much energy in launching the bolt and i cant get a good accuracy. that,s why i want to try a conversion.

I have a FA MINI also. I have both the Closed and Open bolt. I have no problems hitting targets as small as soda cans out to 40 yards in Open bolt - the furthest I can shoot at the outdoor FA range I go to.
I've used my MINI in SMG competitions but stopped since it is too fast. I routinely get doubles but would like to get singles - we are forced to have selector on AUTO for competition.
I think you should be able to easily hit the plates with the MINI in Open bolt.
I have a FA closed bolt assembly and tried it but it is way too fast. ROF is around 1700 RPM.
If you really want Closed bolt, the FA assembly was like $350 from Vector and I don't know if they still have them. You will need to get a non-ratcheting topcover or remove the "tooth", then use a sear that has only one "arm".
Or if you want to go cheap you can use a SEMI MINI Uzi bolt assembly since it sounds like you are using it in the SEMI position anyway. There is really only one difference between the SEMI and FA MINI bolts and that is the lip on the breech face to support the round on the FA bolt.

thanks amphibian, i think i will go for the semi only for the cheaper reason. do you mean i will just buy a semi bolt assymbly and thats it? is it a drop in parts?. can you help me where i can get it. can you give me an idea how much a semi bolt assymbly cost. thanks again

No, it is NOT drop in. You have to go through the same procedures as you would if you were using a factory FA Closed bolt assembly. Which again is:
If you have a factory correct ratcheting topcover for your MINI Uzi, you will need to remove the ratcheting "tooth" from the topcover. You will also need to get another sear if yours has the two "arms" or cut one of the "arms" off.
Now regarding the bolt assembly. I don't have a complete assembly but I do have two semi MINI bolts (closed bolt of course). I would sell one to you for $35 shipped but you would still need to get the recoil spring assembly, firing pin....
Look at my webpage for the parts.
Look at parts: 8,9,10,11,12. I'm not sure but maybe parts 4,5,6,7 also. I haven't looked at it for a long time.
Also bgarmory lists the MINI Uzi Carbine bolt assembly for $150 but I don't know if that includes parts 8-12. You should call and ask before you order.

Bolt Conversion

:thinking

Greetings "amphibian"
I have a Uzi SMG. I would like to make it closed bolt firing ??
Can this be done ?? and exactly what parts do I need to do
this. What to grind off of the Bolt and which arm to cut off of the
sear ??? AND the best source for the parts. THANK YOU

Regards
Alan (Doc)

askimball, this discussion is about the MINI Uzi CLOSED bolt SMG. I assume you are asking about the fullsize. While IMI did make some CLOSED Bolt FULL size SMG's, those bolts are hard to find. If you really want one, contact danddsales as they can modify a semi bolt assembly for FA. Add the lower lip to support the round.
Vector may also do it for you if they have time - talk to Rex.
I personally wouldn't bother. I don't use it in my MINI and others have mentioned that they don't like it in the full size either. Remember your ROF will go up a lot. I think a lot of people underestimate the accuracy of an open bolt gun. I can easily hit cans at 40 yards with my open bolt Uzi (would try further but that is as far as my range will allow FA). How accurate do you need to be with a 9mm?
You may also be able to place a WTB ad for one as I know someone on Subguns was saying he didn't like it and wasn't using his.
