I remove the floorplate, pull the spring and follower and put everything in the dishwasher set on pots and pans. Once they are clean, I use a dry graphite lube on the inside of the body and on the contacting sides of the follower. I use Remoil on the outside of the bodies. That is the easist way and by far the best way I have found.

I disassemble, then use a bottle brush on the inside of the mag body. A little lube on the follower and spring then put it all back togather.

I use an old toothbrush with Hoppe's #9 solvent to clean them and then I use a light coat of Rig on the inside of the mag. I have been doing this for over 25 years so I know it stands the test of time. (I know that the Hoppe's #9 smells better than most colognes but don't breathe too much of it if you can help it). Also, don't get the Rig in your eyes.

when you get a new mag...dissamble and check for rough spots or burs...especially on follower...use whatever you like...light file ( on follower ), light weight sandpaper on inside for really rough surfaces or rust, polishing cloth...polishing or cutting compound and rag with toothbrush...whatever...clean with your favorite solvent if needed ( probably won't )..wipe all metal surfaces with breakfree clp...let sit overnight...wipe absolutly dry...breakfree penetrates the pores and leaves a dry residual that lubricates...more importantly it prevents rust and prevents dirt from sticking...reassemble and you are set...never lube your mags unless you use a dry lube sparingly and you really don't have to do that with metal mags...graphite makes some of the cheap plastic mags feed more realiably...ie zytel mac mags...
