I thought I read somewhere a while ago that Vector could take a full size UZI and turn it into a mini? Is this true?

Yes Vector can cut down a FS into a Mini. Call them for pricing.

All of the full auto Mini UZIs that Vector sold were cut down from full size UZIs. The more recent semi-autoMini UZIs are the same way.

I've thought about doing it with my RR Group Industries Uzi, but I haven't shot a Mini, and don't know if I would prefer it to my full sized weapon. I suppose it would make it worth more money as a collector piece.

Any idea on the cost?
Would they work on an original IMI gun?

The scope of human ingenuity sometimes amazes me. Who would ever think or want to take the chance with a transferable UZI and chop it down to a Mini? Thats amazing that someone is ballzy enough to try it! I would sure as hell be NERVOUS as all get out... If you mess up its 7k at stake.. No small chunk of change by any standard. :)

I wouldn't bother to do that. Sell the full size UZI and buy a Vector MINI UZI, if that floats your boat! I, myself, think the MINI and the MICRO UZIs stink. I just prefer the full size one better.

I also like the full sized UZI more.
The Mini is like a MAC-10 with better ergonomics and a better stock.
The Micro is in it's own class, it literally burps all its rounds in 2 seconds and from what I have seen on a lot of videos on Youtube and from the few times I seen one live, they jam or malfunction a lot more than I would like.

I also dislike the bolt conversions of the Mini or Micro unless they have the feet welded on.

Alot of conversions have been done to registered Group Industry bolts.
I had one, should have kept it because it was a really good shooter.

I'm pretty sure mine was done by Group Industries, not later by someone else.

I'm not for sure if the original C2 has to cut these registered bolts or any C2,
I'm sure someone here might know that answer.

Absolutely anyone who knows what they are doing can cut the bolt. You can send it to any C2 to have the work done. Depending on if the work would be considered a 'remanufacture' or not, you may not even have to use a C2 SOT.

your NFA can be sent to any gunsmith for work and the Form5 is optional (but reccomended).

I have a Mini SBR made by Vector by cutting down a full size receiver. I called and oredered it direct and they took a new never built full size receiver and cut it down and built the mini. They registered it as a SBR and sent it to my Class 3 dealer on a Form 3 as a SBR.

I love that gun as many of the ranges I shoot I can not shoot full auto so the mini gets a lot of use when my full sized SMG can not be adequately enjoyed. I consider it one of my best firearm purchases ever!

One of these days I would love to get a full auto mini or registered mini bolt for it but honestly I am not sure I would gain much over what I already have.

I love my Mini so much that I'm thinking of selling my full size and the GG .45 + .22 lr coversion sets. With Troy @ BarrelXchange making the HEAVY bolt in 9mm + .45 bolts & barrels and a .22 kit in BETA testing... who needs 2 UZIs? I NEED an AK-47 MG.

How bad to the rewelded receivers look compared to a factory Mini?

Your full size can be shot in semi mode, right? I know, it kinda sucks, but you can certainly enjoy it at restrictive ranges.
