Do the Bwe magazines make a 22 kit more reliable? I have had a lot of problems with my black dog mags. My subgun ordinance kit runs 80% and I was hoping I could fix it without sending my gun to Richard.( nothing against him as he does excellant work I just want to fix it myself)

I am in the process of going through the check list on the sticky about tuning the kits but those plastic mags keep breaking and jamming no matter how much sanding and graphite I use.

Most of my failures are mag related.

I had given up on the kit to be honest but after getting my m16 kit 100% with 50 round drums I want my Uzi kit to work because they are so much fun.

Thanks

I just ordered more BWE Mags, now i have 7 total. They are the best and probably about the only option if you want your 22 kit to run. I had no luck with the BD mags even with only 20 rounds.

Richards mags run with a full 28 rounds and his customer service is the best.

As far as getting your kit to run, well it was trial and error even with the excellent instructions posted by Richard. I had to adjust the mag catch so high that I had to dremel out some metal on the grip so that it would release. I used a spare grip from a cheap kit. Yours may be different? Just follow the instructions in sequence.

Once you get it to feed correctly with feed ramp work, the mag height and spring work, then the challenge is making sure that the extractor is centered to eject cleanly. The trial and error part for me was being able to get the mag height right for feeding while keeping the extractor centered. It was a bit of back and forth until I got it right.

Pat

PS, it may be easier to send it off to Richard

I just ordered a mag from Richard to try out. What is the best way to adjust the mag catch?

I had to take the grips off, take the mag catch out, put it on the hard flat of my vise and hit it with a hammer. As I noted, I needed to spread it open to the point that, I also had to open up the cut out in the pistol grip a bit more so that it would function.
This is easy to do with a file or dremel. One, hint, on testing mag fit and mag catch function, do not mess with putting the mag catch spring in every time. That spring is a pain. Correct mag height is tricky. It is impacted by adjusting the catch, shimming the bolt down and also adjusting the top cover.

PM me if you need to, it is easier to talk to this than write anout it,

Pat

By the time I got my Uzi tuned I had gone to the BWE mags. I bought 5 of the BD mags and still have them and never use them. You can not beat the price of the BD mags. I just had no luck with them, I only loaded 20 rounds and I tried everything on them,I bought new springs, new followers.

It comes down to what works for you. The BWE mags eat everything, CCI standard, mini mags, Golden Bullets, Federal Bulk Pack, Blazer, Also, they are made out a real UZI mags.

Whatever works,

Pat

I shimmed my bolt today and polished the sides of the extractor. I have the bolt hitting the barrel perfectly. Now I am waiting to try the BWE magazine.
