I've never been and I want to go. A couple questions.

-Is it worth paying to be a shooter if you're just a subgun owner? It seems like a spectator gets to do a lot of cool stuff.
-Can you rent RVs and take them out there? They mention an RV park, but can you park it on site?
-Are there any vendors around or is it really just a get together?
-Are you supposed to bring your own water?

As a shooter you get to park on the line directly behind your spot. Lots of rented RV America RVs there. There is food and water/drinks for sale from the local 4H group, but I would come prepared. There were a few vendors dispersed throughout, but nothing like a vendor midway at KC. Don't expect a tables after tables gun show type setup. KCI was there selling mags, another vendor had tracers and parachute flares, there were a few vendors of random stuff, and there was the rental tent. Bring ammo, lots of ammo, and have a blast. Most targets were 100 yards plus so unless you've got optics on that subgun you're just blasting into the side of a mountain. I didn't get to see what the subgun match area looked like. I think most targets on the main line were at 200 yards across the valley so plan accordingly. Stock up on tracers for the night shoot. That was quite impressive to see.

I would echo the thoughts above. We spend 90% of our shooting time on the m2 and m60, breaking out the non-belt feds to give them a rest when the plane comes out. My Max-31 really doesn’t get much use other than at night to see tracer rounds coming out of it. People are very friendly and the RV set-up and shooting line are extremely functional/convenient. We went out to spectate one shoot before we decided to commit and haul everything to the next shoot. You might want to do the same.

Unfortunately, I’ve never participated either. I know Richard Lage goes out there. He might be able to weigh in on the subgun match.
