Really ugly, I'll agree. I bet these things won't hold up too well in combat, at least for the long term. But if the guns wear out on schedule, more money for H&K.

My first thought (upon seeing the photo) was "WTF?" Then I thought, "Yeah, but what did the M16 look like to the first troops who saw it?"

I seem to remember reading a lot about when the M16 was implemented, how the cheap little plastic rifle would never hold up to the rigors of combat like the good ole wood stock battle rifles.

I'd be willing to test it out at least. I'm interested to see how it breaks down for field stripping...

I'm of the opinion that this thing brings nothing to the table that the M4/M16 system doesn't already possess. I wouldn't mind a new infantry rifle (even an ungodly ugly one like the XM8) if it offered something new. But I just don't see it.
