Anyone have problems with the UZI Multimount adaptor?

NDS Semi (formerly Carbine) now on Form 1 with new barrel...

So it seems like part of the Gem-Tech UZI multimount adaptor is supposed to slide over the barrel. Anyone find the interface between the outside of the BBL/inside of the MultiMount adaptor a bit tight(or won't go)? I was reading up on the MultiMount users manual and ran across this text:

MOUNTING ON the UZI/Mini-UZI:
The UZI adapter mounts in place of the original barrel-retaining nut. It is
designed to accommodate the barrel length/design of both the original UZI
submachine gun as well as the Mini-UZI. It requires original submachine gun barrels and will not mount on the semi-auto UZI carbine. Because of different barrel retaining nuts, it will not mount on the UZI pistol.

Other than obviously BBL length (yeah, I get the fact this is pointless if you have a 16" BBL) - any one know why they state it won't run on a Carbine? Are SMG 10" Barrels thinner than 10" Semi Barrels?

Works fine on my SMG spec SBR.

It is tight on my barrel (and has added some light scratches to the finish from installation and removal), but I have never had a problem getting it on.

Don't know the answer to your OD barrel question for SMG vs semi.

Just dug an old carbine barrel out of my parts bin.

The adapter slides over it fine.

It's not "loose" per se, but it is not near as tight as with my SMG barrel.

Hope this helps.

If you don't mind a little more help for comparison - what is the diameter of the outside of your barrels and if possible the inside diameter of your multimount adaptor?

I measured .630 outside diameter of the 8.5" BBL at muzzle and an inside diameter of .634 in the multimount adaptor. I can just barely start the adaptor on the barrel, should I just keep working this with some grease to get the correct amount of finish wear.

Also - anyone have a MOSSAD-II can and does it also slide over the barrel stub?

P.P.S. - what length barrels are you using with the MultiMount Can - 10 or 8.5"?

thanks!

I can get those measurements for you, but not for a few days.

I just got back to my second home and won't be back where the UZI is housed until next weekend. :(

I'll also have to dig around in the garage a bit to find my calipers.

I still haven't got everything arranged since my big move back in January. :silly

The SMG barrel I'm using is a surplus IMI 10".

I'll have to dig even deeper, but I think I *might* have a South African 10" SMG barrel I can get dimensions off of and check fitment with too.

I just checked an Uzi SMG barrel and a 10.2" semi barrel. Both measured .625" OD out toward the end of the barrel, where the adapter would interface with them.

I don't have a MM, but the Trident-9 mount is similar, and it appears to work fine on the semi-auto barrel. I've seen some barrels that have a fairly heavy paint on the outside surface. It was enough on one of my barrels that I thought I wouldn't be able to get it off my Bowers Uzi adapter after shooting it the first time. If you have a set of calipers, just measure your barrel and the end of the MM adapter. If you're only .001" or .002", take some fine sandpaper and go to town on the end of the barrel.

Chipster, I just finished taking the measurements you requested.

After getting the numbers, I see why my carbine barrel doesn't fit as tight as my SMG barrel.

Carbine barrel (not sure of manufacturer): 0.623"
South African SMG barrel: 0.626"
IMI SMG barrel: 0.628"

So your barrel is just a little larger than all of mine.

The inside diameter of my adapter is similar to yours at 0.633"
