I was wondering if anyone does this as a service? I figure if you've got an auto bolt that's ysrless, why not convert it to legal closed bolt semi version and hopefully save money? Message me if you coukd help me with this process.

Possible by why would you do this? What caliber is it? I'd trade a semi for an FA bolt any day of the week and save you the work!

The semi-auto bolt assembly setups are almost $300. If I can get a full auto bolt which comes in a kit converted and yes I would pay someone to do it to a bolt like in the semi assembly that will save at least a couple hundred bucks so that's why I would want to convert a full auto Bolt if you have a closed Bolt semi that you trade to a full auto then I'd be in for that. The build is going to be 9mm

I was referring to having someone else do it.
It would require extensive modification (drill for firing pin, slot for blocking bar and striker, etc)
If you have the tools and skills, and can get SA Bolt Blueprints, that would be the way to go.
Or swap for FA Bolt.

UZI bolts are also apparently made from an Adamantium alloy. They are damn hard, without annealing them first you will be breaking some carbide tooling.

depends on who you get to do it sniperdoc.

I don't know what gunsmiths in your area charge.
Around here, a "real" gunsmiths are expensive
Almost every machinist in my area can shorten and crown a barrel because everyone owns several guns, and machinists are no exception. Several of them can do a lot more than that, such as making a replacement part (if they have the broken pieces of the original or a blueprint ). One guy is great at making rifles sit up and sing! And any of themcan be relied on to drill and tap an action for a scope.
Some shop owners will even let people use their tools (if they know you, like you,and they know that you know how to use said tools)
However, "real" gunsmiths (The guys who can do it all, from case hardening to inletting a stock) are VERY rare. I can think of 4 in a 250 mile radius that I'm personally aware of that I wouldn't hesitate to recommend or use.

Sorry, hypothetical as I have no spare semi Uzi bolt, but I feel your pain- any way to get it right!

A real smith or machinist will not touch the bolt for less than $2-300 it's human nature to want it fast and cheap and it's very hard to machine an Uzi bolt. So with all that said spend the $300 on the semi setup but by the time you do that you have 1/3 or better in the cost of a completed semi auto so for any other reason than you want to build the Uzi just because you can or want to why do it at all.

Thanks guys for all the advice I'll be on the hunt for a reasonably priced semi-auto setup

I ended up getting a semi bolt from USBarrels. I won an auction on GB that had the rest of the bolt assembly.
