A number of people have asked about AK bolt carriers in the Galils. Here are pics of 2 of my 3 Galils that have them. They are AK47 stainless carriers. The top rifle is a 7.62, the lower is 5.56 which is also shown with top cover off.

It's the fix for everyone that's using a rail system. No upturned cocking knob= no damaged knuckles, easier cocking.

+1. The Galil was never made for rail systems. The AK carrier cures the knuckle mauling issue.

Gunboker is one source, the other is just do Google search for AK47 bolt carriers & see who is selling them @ this time. It is the same carrier for both weapons.

Don't know. The piston on that thing makes me wonder just what Galil it was originally designed for (Micro). If all Galil bolt carriers (Micros included) are interchangeable then the answer should be yes. Anyone with more knowledge (maybe Tengalil) plz chime in.

It will work, but you will have to change the piston for a longer one, unless you're using it in a Micro.

will my piston work on this carrier?

It'll work

Just use your current gas piston with the new bolt carrier.
Just remember-if you want a left side handle you'll need to clear the top cover.

Darth the bolt carrier is just that- a carrier. The headspace is set at the lugs on the bolt. The 7.62x39 AK bolt carrier and the Galil have the same size hole for the bolt. The AK-74 carrier won't work.

I just want to get this straight before I go and buy an AK bolt carrier.
Will the AK-47 bolt carrier (7.62) work with a Golani (5.56)?
Tenngalil's post say no...if I'm reading that right?
