I leafed through the Mac Man book to try and find this answer before posting but I didn't find it. It might well be there, but if so, I missed it.

Are there factory (from one factory or another) M10s that have the same grip size and use the same Zytel magazine at the M11/9? I have no experience with the 11/9 or the 9mm M10 (both my M10s were .45s when I got them). I've seen several pictures recently of M10 9mms with what appeared to be Zytel mags. Is there a different Zytel mag for the M10 or do the later M10s just use the same magazine as the M11/9? Just wondering if reasonably available mags (like the Shockwave) work in the 9mm M10.

Thanks!

From what I understand, the original M10 in 9mm used a double stack and double feed trapezoidal magazine. The M11/9 used the same trapezoidal dimensions however the magazines are double stack and single feed. Therefore, an M10 with a single feed bolt could use the common and plentiful but unreliable zytel magazines.

I have a swd finished Texas Mac. It is single feed and uses Zyrtec mags. I have been contemplating sending to practical solutions for have a feed ramp installed so I can use a double feed mag with a new double feed bolt. In the meantime, I’ve been using a Lage max10/31 upper so it has been using mostly Suomi and zmag-s magazines.

But to answer your question, out of the box, this will use the zytel magazines.

Gun bro you can also use the converted RECON ORD PAM 2 mags in place of the zytel ones.
Just tossing that out there in case you want to get some extras before the end of Jan.

I always hear people saying the Zytel ones fit the m10/9. I have the m11/9 and I have a lot of CMP m10/9 mags, they all fit in the mag well but don't latch in.

I don’t see them on the site, maybe I’m not looking on the correct spot? Can you post a link?

Great, thanks for the information. Just to be clear, the Shockwave M11/9 magazines work in the M10 9mms that use the single feed zytel mags right?

Isn’t that why the zytel mags have 2 different height mag catches? M11/9 and m10/9?

MackJack, you are right. In The Mac Man book page 319 and page 427 states the SWD/Texas guns used the Zytel magazines same as the M-11/9mm.

So just to clear up, shockwave z mags WILL fit in a SWD Texas m10 ? Shockwaves site list those for 5 swd m11s and 4 leinad but no m10s.. i have 8 recon ord. mags that work with varying degrees of success, some of the feed lips were cut back when purchased from u.s. machine gun... one so short you cant load it.. only about 2 work somewhat reliably.. maybe z mags would be more reliable..

Shockwaves don’t have dual mag catch notches.... so maybe? Depending on if latches on the top notch in the zytels or not

I have an M10/9. It uses zytels mags. My Recons won't work for various reasons. Anyways, I bought some shockwave mags when they first came out, but returned them since they won't work with an M10/9. Was a sad day.

Yes, the SWD M10s use single feed zytel mags. Thats why the mags have two mag catches like MacJack said.

The Shockwave mags don't work but they probably would if you ground off the mag stops and added another catch. Theyv might need some other tweaking, idk.

Well that is disappointing. When I saw what looked like a M11/9 mag well on a SWD completed 9mm M10 I was hopeful.

Yes. Swd completed Texas macs use an m11/9 grip. The zytel mags have two mag catch notches on back to accommodate the height difference.

You can buy zytel mags still.

There no reason you couldn’t make the zmags work w tweaking.

The zytel that come with my m10 has the top notch "ground out" so the mag catch wont engage the first one... i guess the top notch in the zmag would need filled and a lower notch added... not sure about the stop...
