7.62x25 UZI build

Okay, I'm starting to get into these Uzi's. I picked up an Uzi pistol a couple of month's ago and it has been a lot of fun. I'm making a Glock lower for it, but just haven't finished it yet

I want to now make a full sized Uzi that shoots the 7.62x25 round. I just bought 6 CZ-26 mags and worked out a deal to use the mandrel that was used to make the magwell for this 7.62x25 Uzi.

This is how the 7.62x25 grip stick looks next to a 9mm grip stick.

P.S. This is Steve shooting the 7.62x25 Uzi

That looks really nice! Have you chronographed the velocity of the 7.62x25 rounds yet?

I have about 1k rounds of 7.62x25 and I am bored with shooting my toks. This sounds interesting to me.

Cool.

I was thinking about doing a sten lower for my Uzi. I've got a 7.62x25 conversion for the Max-11 upper that uses modified Sten mags. It runs ok, the magazines can be a bit problematic, they run well if you don't load them to full capacity.

Where did you get your barrel?

Steve is making the barrel for me.

No, that's not my gun. I'm going to do mine on a full sized Uzi. I will make mine with around an 8 inch barrel and then pin on a fake suppressor to make it legal carbine length for my state. You don't want the barrel over 8 inches for the TOK round or the pressure will be to high for the Uzi.
I figured all this out a couple of years ago when I used to flute barrels and do magwells for the TOK MP5's.
I don't really mess with much HK stuff anymore. I finally figured out that they really aren't all that people think they are. They are okay, but I'd never want to get in a firefight with an HK subgun. They work well as long as they are clean, but as soon as they are dirty, your screwed. I still work on them from time to time though. Just helped fix a C93 this weekend for a friend.
This was my old test weapon.

Will a CZ26 magazine fit in a Sten magwell? I've never actually held a CZ26 magazine, are they high quality magazines?

Kenny,

Keep me up on this... I have a FA Uzi and it would be great to shoot cheap ammo... other than .22

Travis,
How the heck are ya!
You know I'll keep you in the loop. I still remember you getting me those "k" cocking tubes, when that guy wouldn't sell me any parts.
Good to see you on this forum.

I have never held CZ26 mags either. I closed a deal on some, but will have to wait for them before I can tell you anything about them. I used 43 mags before and they worked great.

7.62 x 25 isn't such a bargain anymore.

I think about the best deal going is if you buy over $500 worth from Century and get free shipping. Then, it's still about 16.9 cents a round. It used to be around 7 cents per round.

I traded it to him back in March for a custom ZK-SD rifle with a Tromix rail, DPH side folding stock and Galil inverted safety. It will be kinda like this one.
ZKSDWood-1.jpg

It will be nice if it ever gets finished. I bug him from time to time about it. The last contact I had with him was about a week before Christmas and he told me he had his best guy working on the barrel at that time. If I had known it would take this long, I would have made my own rifle with the design I came up with. I'd Really like to make a flat top AK rifle, kinda like the ZK-SD, but with a POF handguard instead of the Yankee Hill handguard he uses. This is a rough idea of the rifle I really wanted.

P.S. Travis, Would you keep an eye out for a Russian magwell for a Saiga12? I can't seem to find one.
