Having a hard time finding a 22 conversion for my m11a1 small mag well. Fleming is the only one I know of and seem hard to find. Any idea would be great.

Other than a Lage 22 kit that have been cut down, Fleming is the only current option.

MAK91 has a kit that’s supposed to come out. When, I don’t know but I’ve been waiting.

Get on Sam's waiting list for the m11a1 22lr upper if you haven't already done it. He is currently working on it. Read this if you haven't already seen it.

I believe that two types (short and long) of the Fleming .22 conversion for the M11-380 were made. The long version has a front attachment lug that can be cut down so that the upper can be installed on a M11/9 instead of the M11-380. Thus, only two types of Fleming .22 uppers for full auto MACs are really needed (the M11/9 & 380 type and one for M10s).
I find it somewhat odd that reviving production Fleming uppers has not been pursued. Ruger and aftermarket 10/22 pattern stick magazines can be easily modified, if need be, to work well in the Fleming units. As is the case with a number of .22 conversions and some .22 firearms (e.g., AR-7, Intratec Tec22), full power .22LR ammo is needed for reliable operation.
And perhaps a .22LR bolt/recoil assembly and barrel and/or barrel insert will be developed to enable use of the upcoming VERSA uppers in connection with .22LR Glock magazines.
MHO, YMMV, etc.
ETA: As I reflect on it, I may well be wrong about only one size needed for the M10s. Please feel free to clarify/correct. TIA.

I think if a Fleming type side loading upper for the M11s were to be updated, I would like the S&W 15-22 mags over the 10-22 mags. The 10-22 mags are wider so the Fleming upper had to be taller. The 15-22 mags are thinner and the upper would not need to be oversized.

I consider the 15-22 mags more reliable, easier to clean and load. Blackdog 15-22, 50 round drums are also available.

I would like G44 mags for the Versa uppers if 30+ round mags were easily available. The ProMag 18 round G44 mags don't seem to have a reliable reputation.

Strobro Mr. Fleming passed away about a year and a half to two years ago.
I delt with him a few times getting parts for my M10 22 upper.
Not to speak ill of the dead but let's just say he waz difficult to deal with.

What I've wondered is what happened to all the parts.
Supposedly there were boxes and drawers of Fleming 22 upper parts accourding to him.
I should have bought more parts but at the time I didn't think it was worth the hassle and prices were pretty steep.

I'm guessing anyone could turn out a side fed upper if they really put the time into it and had a upper to reverse/study.

I spoke with him 2X. He talked me out of buying a M11/9 22 LR upper in 2008. He said many people were not happy with it. I was looking for the thread where I mentioned it. There seems to be a limit how far back you can go search UT now.

He was not worried about how people remembered him. :)

After seeing that picture I thought to myself "I didn't know stobro had a fleming upper". Then I was like, hey that table looks familiar. Then I finally realized that the table was mine as well as the M11A1 and upper. PICTURE THIEF!!! jk

Found it on the web as an example of how the Fleming upper was taller than OEM and the extended upper for the M11A1. SW 15-22 mags would not need a taller upper, but yes... I STOLE IT and there's nothing you can do about it! :)

I thought the picture was the gun was taken on their bathroom floor next to the toilet. I wondered if that was their review.

If you've seen the movie "Pulp Fiction", you know why you always brings your MAC into the bathroom with you.

A short (non-extended Fleming M11-380 upper was offered for a time. The upper in the picture can be used with an M11/9 by cutting off the rear portion of the lug on the bottom. One part for two firearms - one less part to have in inventory - saves cost.

The 10/22 mag has the primary ejector built into the left mag lip. The ejector in the 10/22 receiver and Fleming upper is a secondary ejector that only sees use when the mag is removed and a casing (live or fired) remains in the chamber. An implementation of SW 15-22 (or standard AR-15) mags would need to have some sort of way to eject casings added in somewhere. Also, the mag catch actuation for the SW 15-22 (or standard AR-15) mags would need to be accommodated in some way that doesn't interfere with manipulation of the selector on the MAC receiver.

MHO, YMMV, etc.

Rooster be proud your pic was good enough to get stolen LOL.

There is a vid of me me shooting Kramers Thompson on Utube that some rando stole and claims it's him.
Me & Kramer get a good laugh out of it. ( been up since like 2008)
Pix on 1919 com of some guy claiming the 1919 and M2 HB are his form 2001.
They are again Kramers guns no the mistaking the back yard due to the rock in thd photo.
And someone stole a MEME I made and my wife found it reposted from a gun forum on FB.
At least the MEME is supposed to be passed around kinda a badge of honor there that it was good enough to get reposted.
And scary enough that the net is now small enough that people notice when their IP is posted somewhere else.

I figure stolen pix are only a problem if the person is using them for finacial gain.
Besides that's a excellent pic way better then the crap pix I take.
I also noticed you are poking fun at the pic too!

Sorry for the thread slide.

Yes I was poking fun of the pic but not from personal experience with the Fleming upper. They have a reputation that even Fleming himself was aware of. Like I mentioned, I wanted one and Fleming himself said to me, "Are you sure you want one? They have a bad reputation." I was still going to buy it because Chili17 was fixing them. Chris said 1 or 2 FTFs per mag was common on the "fixed" uppers. I gave up considering them and just waited on Lage's 22 upper. The Lage M-11/22 was one of my favorite Lage products ever.

Roaster72, did you ever try the ATI 110 round mags or BDM or ProMag 50 round mags with the Fleming upper?

Here is my entries into the M11A1 22LR conversion. I modified the Richard's M-11/22 to a M-11A1/22 and Max-11A1 to use a modified S&W 15-22 parts and CMMG 22LR parts.

I think Richard should make dedicated 22LR AR uppers. I'd buy one. I'm sure he could slow them down more than my slowest one @ 1000 RPM;)

I kinda wish I had not turned my 15-22 180 drum into the Lage M-11A1/22 small magwell drum.
Would have been fun to try but honestly I don't think it could keep up.

Strobro32, I'm not Roaster72 but I did try a GSG 110 round drum that looks very similar to the ATI shown (???). My M11/9 Fleming runs pretty well with RGB and a can or compensator but it didn't run more than five rounds at a time with the big drum. First I had to grind on it a bit to get it to fit and for the bolt to run over it. Might have been something with my bolt/upper/drum combination, I don't know. I tried running it drum up/ejection port down and still no luck. The drum didn't seem to want to keep up with the demand for ammo.

I had one of those Bazooka Brothers AM-180 adaptor and I couldn't get that to run either. I'm probably drum-challenged.

Dang, 22 ammo must be cheap where you live. That max-15 upper goes through ammo crazy fast. Very impressive!

I've tried a ProMag 55 round 10/22 drum in my Fleming upper (after grinding the front and rear of the head for bolt clearance), but it only shoots one shot at a time. It appears that the drum spring tension is too high. The bolt can't push the cartridge in the tower down enough to stroke rearward completely. There doesn't appear to be an easy way to take the ProMag drum apart and reduce the spring tension. At some point I might buy and try a Black Dog 10/22 50 round drum as the spring tension is adjustable in those drum mags.

tsmgshooter's video was the only video I've seen that the GSG 110 rd drum worked at lightspeed.

1743 RPM
