Anyone chop the barrel on their Golani?

The barrel on your Golani isn't 21 inches long. It's 18.

Recoil guide rod and receiver fit

How critical is the recoil guide rod to receiver fit? Should it be loose? Tight? What? Thanks!

    Golani Scope Mounts Question

That depends on the rifle's purpose. If the rifle is for plinking, it's probably not worth it. If the rifle is going to ride around in the cab of your pick-up truck, it can be worth it. If the rifle is for personal defense, it's worth it. A little ways down the line from having a white light...

Are the triangular collar ones thread-free?

    SAR Gas Piston

I knew that CNC Warrior was making the three-lug design for ARs and ARMs. I thought that it might have been an earlier design, although now that I know what Valmet gas pistons look like, that was a little bit silly of me. Any idea when they might have switched to the triangular design? I also...

    SAR Gas Piston

Numrich has two pistons listed for the SAR: One, I assume, is the standard SAR piston that we're all familiar with. Link. The other... is a bit odd. It has a triangular collar and is unthreaded... and is also listed as being both IMI and new. Link. What's going on, here?

    Golani Scope Mounts Question

I thought I had a couple, but it appears that I don't. Next time I break out the camera, I'll try to remember to get some pictures.

    Galil Armorers Manual?

Number of problems with the R4 Manual: 1-I will not subscribe to scribd. 2-I will not allow a torrent site to add plug-ins to my browser. 3-Stevespages.com doesn't appear to have anything called 'Page 7'.

    Parts: Galil, Valmet, AKM

Next question: How crucial is the recoil assembly rod fit to the receiver? As I believe I have mentioned, the assembly rod on mine appears to have been modified and the fit is a bit sloppy. My AK guru has theorized that this poor fit was partially to blame on my off kilter top cover. Thanks again!

    FSB pins..

I would be surprised if they were tapered pins. Since it is a fancy AK. Arizona Response Systems has pictures of their Galil builds being built, but the pictures are of rather poor quality, making it difficult to identify whether or not the pins are rolled or not.

    Galil-related Literature?

I recall thinking that it was an AK, at the time. And I knew what a Galil looked like back then, too. (The first wood gun my dad made for me out of wood was a Valmet Rk62... which I chose... so I think I knew what a Galil looked like a couple years back.) That being said, there might be some...

    Proper Forum Etiquette

I've never met the man, but I somehow suspect that Mikhail Kalashnikov would not have a problem with his name being attached to a semi-automatic rifle utilized by the American unorganized militia, that he would almost certainly claim to have designed. Eugene Stoner doesn't (didn't?). I would...

    Golani Scope Mounts Question

Well, my receiver is a completely different serial number range than yours.... But, yes. The Aimpoint Comp M2-series and Comp M3-series will both work with it, as will clones and imitations.

    Galil-related Literature?

I'm not knocking you for trying. I'm just saying, old stuff is old. ;) I've seen the Remtek and Wikipedia articles, but the book on Amazon (in addition to having me somewhat worried) and the zahal.org are both new to me.

    Galil-related Literature?

That is handy, although inaccurate (as Valmet and Arsenal both produce/produced stamped receiver 5.56mm AKs, to say nothing of the then virtually unknown 5.45mm M74). In fact, the author appears to get a good deal wrong about the AK. And, despite what the author says, the handguard is removable...
