Hello all, I was examining a pre-86 Uzi SMG that had a five digit serial number on the left rear of the receiver (12xxx), a "3" stamped under the receiver where the stock folds, and "L.E.S. Skokie IL" (importer?) on the right rear of the receiver. ARS trigger housing. No other markings...

Check this out: http://www.gunbroker.com/item/604082720 Springfield import IMI Uzi, Israeli receiver markings, imported 1978 according to ad. So why would this not be a pre-86 sample rather than post-86? Reweld maybe? Other ideas? Curious, trying to understand.... Thanks Update: OK...

Pics of ejector, barrel markings under the handguard, and bolt carrier. Gave her a detailed cleaning and oiling afterwards. Great shape, barely fired best I can tell.

Here are more pics. I'm reluctant to remove the handguards because they look to have never been removed. The handguard retaining plate lever is undisturbed and I'd hate to marr it accidently unless someone has a good method and a necessary reason. Whaddya all think?

Thanks for the great info. I'll post more pics when I get home tonight. IIRC, the barrel length was that of a standard MR .308 ARM (with birdcage FH and bayo lug). More to follow.....

I picked up this .308 Galil at a local show. I have several other early MR Galils, but none with this serial number pattern and markings. It also has what I think is the early riveted ejector. Interestingly, IMI .308 mags do not fit - only the modified M14 mags that came with the gun...

Yes, that was very helpful. Is there any way to tell if the work was done by the importer/IMI rather than aftermarket in terms of markings etc? Any guess as to how many 332A's there were? Thanks again!
