I am getting ready to send my FNC, sear and pack out for installation. And like the title says, I'm thinking about shortening the barrel and want some input on what has been done and what works with the existing gas system when shortening a standard barrel. Oh yeah, I want it to be threaded...

Using all standard mags is a great idea.

Wow, I just re-read the entire thread. Lots of lengths, muzzle velocities, discussions about penetration, percentages, ammo information, hollow points and on and on. That is just too much for me. When I'm worried that I "did not kill them enough" I just go ahead and shoot them again...

It's an "FNC" because its a Fleming Nato Carbine. It looks like a AR15. I think that's what it is

Don't give up hope. Is it chrome lined? I had some CL virgin barrels years ago that had no wrench flats. Jeff just milled the flats on one of them and installed it. But a "galil parts kit" does not have to mean it's Israeli made...... Whatever it is, shoot it and enjoy.

Jeff does a hardness test on every receiver he works on. No sense in spending a lot of time (and a lot of your money) on a build/rebuild that will not last. RM308
