You set that priceless weapon on a WET deck!? Oh the humanity! :cry

    Problems with new(to me) Uzi

If he has a self-cleaning oven, which typically heat up to 800-900 F, he could put the barrel in there, positioned at an angle and wait for the lead to pour out the end. IIRC, 900 F is the lower end of the stress relief anneal temperature and shouldn't hurt any heat treatment. (If barrels are...

    Mag rebuild kits?

Most common damage to magazines I've found is bent feed lips from drops. Lips can be repositioned a few times before the metal is fatigued. Mark your magazines in some fashion (permanent marker?) so you can identify ones that give you unusually high failures to feed at the range. Later you...

    Receiver wear

That looks similar to mine.... Someone who knew what they were doing (i.e., not me :D ) could probably TIG the worn away areas up with a hardfacing filler rod (then grind the area flush). For a split second I thought about suggesting JB weld, but only a split second.

    Receiver wear

Can you post a pic of the wear? I'd be interesting in the datapoint.

    Pre-68 Uzi?

How did they register 14000 semi auto receivers? Registration is not required for semi-autos. Do you mean they registered them as SBR with the 10" barrels?

    Closed bolt lip

I wasn't aware there were any full auto closed bolt UZIs.

Conversion Full Size Model A Trigger Pin Hole Diameter?

Trying to gather some data here. Can anyone with an inside caliper measure the trigger group pin hole in the bottom of the receiver? I know it's nominally 9mm but I'm looking for a measurement in thousandths of an inch or hundredths of a millimeter. Thanks...

    modifying my uzi

NFA'34 and especially FOPA'86 is so clearly a violation of the Second Amendment, it's sad. I say NFA is illegal, not the UZI. Oh well, after Obama outlaws all repeating firearms, we can stop talking about bolt this, receiver that, and how many angels can dance on the head of a pin. Then we...

    Model B pistol grips loose????

That's not happened to me, but looking at the exploded diagram, it looks like the screws hold the two grip halfs at a fixed distance, and the bumps in the grips that mate into the grip frame holes keep it from moving rearward. Seems like there are two possibilities. (1) The grip pieces...

    Settle Dispute-Receiver Reweld

Is this one of those cases where forgiveness is easier to obtain than permission?

How much are SMG's worth now ???

OK, I'm confused--the pool of transferrables is fixed. When in recent years would there ever be more sellers than buyers?

    Uzi FA Bolt Issues

As eodinert said, there are registered receivers that have the blocking rail intact and a slotted bolt, so the fact that it's a registered receiver doesn't preclude you being in that unfortunate situation. Whatever the case, you don't want any slotted bolt that's not itself registered unless...

    What type of barrel?

VPI = Vapor Phase Inhibitor; I think it's just the type of anti-corrosion packaging the barrel was shipped in. Take a look at the first line under Govt Spec VPI and VCI Letter 'C' indicates it's a franken-barrel that started life as a Full Auto IMI factory barrel but later got turned down to...

    How to top cover ????

I found out when disassembling stuff that a digital camera is your friend. Take close up macro shots of everything from several angles before you begin.

    Vertical Foregrip: Yes or No?

Is that a monopod or a bipod? If it's a monopod, I guess the VFG is to keep it from falling over! :) (Or maybe I just need glasses--I can't see the other leg!)
