After a few years of use, I've not noticed any finish wear on my gun under the Lage grip -- in fact, that's the only part of the gun that still has the original NIB finish with no wear what-so-ever.

I can see why you sent those back -- I've never gotten any that were anywhere near that screwed up, and I'd likely do the same (especially if the feed lips were jacked up!). I asked simply because I wasn't sure of the sorts of issues folks were seeing with the mags, so thanks for sharing!

What is so wrong with the mags that you had to return them as unserviceable? I ask as I've got 15 or 20 drums, and I've yet to find one that couldn't be gotten to work. Sometimes you swap trays between a "good one" and a "bad one" and end up with two good ones, other times it's another part or...

Slightly bevel/taper the end of the "ball" style retaining pin and you then simply need "good enough" alignment for the pin to bring things "home".

The only mag issue I've had with my mk1 is that some of the Suomi drum catches are cut with a really deep 45* angle so they won't stay seated and sometimes fall out in the middle of a string of fire. :bang

Thanks for the comparison/info Chili and THM. The pound of weight savings would be nice when getting to the end of a long match/course of fire but from the sound of it, the differences really aren't worth fretting over. Now if I can just bump my 1st gen -31's ROF 100rpm or so I'll be set!

I usually just start with 1-3 rounds in the mags. This also gives them the chance to begin forming the habit of locking the bolt back.

I ran .250" diameter wipes while my can still used them. I've since had Stalking Rhino redo the can. WAY quieter, and no fussing with wipes!

Heavy plates are the only reason I'd do it. Other than that I want my loads as light as I can possibly get them; easier to stay on target, cheaper to load, and less wear/tear on the gun AND shooter.

The M11/22 and MAX-11/22 ROF's are the same as the MAX-31 -- 750 RPM. Fair point speaking strictly to hole size, however.

Edit: "spoilers" removed. Suffice to say, a close look at the photo reveals all. Good idea; that'll make upper swaps at the range MUCH faster/easier.
